Union Sportive Madinet Sétif (Arabic: الإتحاد الرياضي لمدينة سطيف), known as USM Sétif or simply USMS for short, is an Algerian football club located in Sétif, Algeria. The club was founded in 1933 and its colors are garnet and white. Their home stadium, 8 May 1945 Stadium, has a capacity of 18,000 spectators. The club is currently playing in the Inter-Régions Division.
History
The club was founded in 1933 under the name of Union Sportive Musulmane de Sétif, officially declared under the name of Union Sportive Franco-Musulmane de Sétif it's the oldest of Sétif. The club was champion of the Constantine League twice in 1946 and 1951. After independence in 1962, the club played in first division during two seasons 1973-74 and 1974-75. The club was also named Ittihad Riadhi Baladiat Sétif between the 70s and the 80s.
In 2005, USM Sétif reached the final of the Algerian Cup for the first time in the club's history. However, in the final, they lost 1–0 against ASO Chlef.
O US Setif foi fundado em 1944 por um grupo de trabalhadores franceses. O clube rapidamente se tornou uma das principais equipas do futebol argelino, vencendo o seu primeiro título nacional em 1963. Após a independência da Argélia em 1962, o US Setif continuou a ser uma das equipas mais bem-sucedidas do país, vencendo mais seis títulos nacionais e seis taças nacionais.
Em 1988, o US Setif tornou-se a primeira equipa argelina a vencer um troféu continental, a Taça dos Campeões Africanos. O clube também venceu a Taça das Confederações Africanas em 2010.
O US Setif é um clube muito popular na Argélia e tem uma grande base de fãs. O clube é conhecido por seu estilo de jogo ofensivo e por sua habilidade em produzir jogadores talentosos. Alguns dos jogadores mais famosos que jogaram no US Setif incluem Rabah Madjer, Lakhdar Belloumi e Samir Nasri.
Atualmente, a equipe é treinada pelo francês François Ciccolini e tem como principais jogadores o goleiro Abdelkader Salhi, o zagueiro Zinedine Belaid, o meio-campista Akram Djahnit e o atacante Ahmed Kendouci.
