The Ho Chi Minh City Wings are a Vietnamese professional basketball team based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. They play in the Vietnam Basketball Association.
History
During the offseason after their inaugural seam, the Wings announced that Finnish head coach Mika Turunen would not return for their sophomore season and named former Vietnam national basketball team head coach Rick Magallanes as his replacement.
O Ho Chi Minh City Wings é um time de basquete profissional vietnamita baseado na cidade de Ho Chi Minh. A equipe compete na A1 Basketball League (ABL), uma liga profissional de basquete no Sudeste Asiático. O Wings foi fundado em 2016 e é o primeiro time vietnamita a competir na ABL.
O Wings é liderado pelo técnico Gregg Downer, um ex-jogador profissional que já jogou na NBA e na Europa. O time tem um elenco formado por jogadores vietnamitas e estrangeiros. Alguns dos jogadores mais notáveis do Wings incluem Khoa Tran, Sang Dinh, Stefan Nguyễn, Justin Young e Chris Dierker.
O Wings tem sido uma equipe competitiva na ABL, chegando às quartas de final nos últimos três anos. Em 2019, a equipe terminou em terceiro lugar na temporada regular e avançou para as semifinais, onde perdeu para o Saigon Heat.
O Wings é uma equipe popular entre os fãs vietnamitas e tem uma grande torcida. A equipe joga seus jogos em casa no Phu Tho Indoor Stadium, com capacidade para 5.000 pessoas.
