A equipe foi fundada em 1908 e tem uma história rica e bem-sucedida. Eles ganharam 21 campeonatos da Conferência Norte-Central, incluindo 10 títulos consecutivos de 1949 a 1958. Os Wolves também chegaram ao Torneio da Divisão II da NCAA em 12 ocasiões, chegando às quartas de final em 1951 e 1952.
